EXPLORING THE VERSACE MANSION

Villa Casa Casuarina

Miami, Florida

Located on the famous Ocean Drive of Miami Beach, the Villa Casa Casuarina also known as the Versace Mansion stands as one of the most historical buildings on the strip.

Previously owned by Gianni Versace, the Mansion has always been a lavish attraction. Tourists gather outside snapping pictures by the beautiful Versace designed gate, which was also where Versace was shot and killed.

Resident turned hotel/restaurant, the Villa is still very popular. At a whopping $1,000 a night and only 10 suites, the Villa had no vacancy during my visit. However, I wasn’t too bummed out because that money was definitely used elsewhere. We had reservations at one of my favorite hotels in Miami, Fountaine Bleu, which happens to be a lot more modern and close in distance.

Gianni’s is the restaurant inside of the Mansion, which is quite often booked. Although this was a spontaneous trip, I was able to make dinner reservations about two days in advance. Before our dinner reservations, management allowed us to tour the vintage facility.

This three story building gave me museum vibes as we explored each level. I even got to visit and actually lay in the bed of the famous Garden Suite, which happened to be where Kim Kardashian slept during her visit.

The rooftop gave me chills as I viewed the Versace “Marine Vanuras” Collection inspired pool gorgeously glowing below us! Did I mention it was made with 24-karat gold mosaic tiles?

In the evening, the pool is lit, displaying a variety of blue hues in the historic setting.

Dinner was even more amazing as we dined poolside. Gianni's menu selection included a mix of Italian and Mediterranean dishes.

My sister and I opted for the Key West Prawns, which came with Seasonal Vegetables, Pepperoncini and Saffron Aioli. My mom chose the V Risotto Alla Milanese. Both choices were very delicious! For dessert, we all got the signature Versace Strawberry Shortcake, adorned with the Versace logo and topped with fresh fruit.

I am still ecstatic that I got to spend my birthday at the beautiful Mansion! Their Management even welcomed me back during any future visits to Miami.

The Versace Mansion is definitely a place that I would recommend one visit and dine in, if given the time and opportunity while in Miami.
