24 HOURS IN BRUGES, BELGIUM
Belgium may be a small country, but there are numerous things to do and see. The old cobble stone streets and horse carriages will definitely make you feel as if you have traveled back into time. Although Belgium may still have older buildings and streets, it’s not fully stuck in the past. I was shocked to see stores like MAC and Zara as I walked around the city of Bruges.
Surprisingly, a day in Bruges was more than enough time to explore without feeling rushed. This, making Bruges the perfect place to explore a new culture and the true roots of Belgium.
Known for their gorgeous lace and delicious chocolate, visiting Belgium is an experience you do not want to pass up if given the opportunity.
Here’s how to spend 24 hours in Bruges, Belgium.
CRUISE THE LAKE OF LOVE
Similar to Venice, multiple canals run through the city of Bruges. Riding through the historical canals is the most breathtaking experience ever. Home to over 100 Pure White Swans, the Lake of Love is in one of the most beautiful canals you can ride through.
GRAB A WAFFLE… OR TWO!
Belgium is know for their famous Belgian Waffles. I know you may think that those “Belgian Waffles” from your local grocery store are the same, but honey listen, these waffles are on another level. Loaded with flavor, we visited a popular waffle shop called Chez Albert, where you have the option to add as many toppings to a freshly made waffle as your heart desires! I customized my waffle with caramel drizzle and strawberries, I also topped it off with some whipped cream! Doesn’t it look delicious?
GET SEXY!
You probably would not expect Belgium to be known for “bringing sexy back.” With lace galore, Belgium has numerous shops that specialize in sexy lingerie. The girls and I visited a few of these Boudoir Boutiques just for kicks and giggles and I must say, we were very impressed with the quality of their lingerie.
TAKE A TRADITIONAL CARRIAGE RIDE THROUGH THE TOWN
Horse Drawn Carriage tours give Belgium that old-timey feel! Riding through the medieval towns will definitely give you that medieval vibe.
CHOCOLATE SHOP TIL YOU DROP!
It seemed as if every other store in Bruges either sold lingerie or chocolate! Belgium is known for their delicious chocolates and did not disappoint when it came to variety.
